Recreational Burning in the Township

Chapter 52 of the Township Code, by Ordinance No. 301, outlines the requirements of open burning. The Township of Pine requires a "Burn Permit" to be filed with the Township for any recreational burning and the following provisions must be followed;

  • No fire site may exceed dimensions measuring three (3) feet in width, three (3) feet in length and two (2) feet in height.
  • Only burning of clean fire wood/logs is permitted.
  • Burning of refuse and other waste materials is strictly prohibited.
  •  The recreational fire must be attended at all times and properly extinguished at the conclusion of the activity.
  • The Township of Pine reserves the right to refuse a recreational fire due to dangerous circumstances. (drought, high winds, etc.)
  • A signed copy of the permit must be kept on location in case police or fire officials request it.
  • The location of the recreational fire shall not be within fifteen (15) feet of a structure.
  • A means to extinguish the fire shall be on site at all times. (portable fire extinguisher, dirt/sand, water barrel or garden hose)

*Residents must also abide by the applicable Allegheny County Health Department regulations.
