Representatives from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania and the Township of Pine met recently regarding an infrastructure improvement project partially located in the Township of Pine. The following is a summary of the project which hopes to minimize the impact to Township residents, school buses and motorists traveling the affected area.
The project, which is expected to start in May and finish in August, 2019, involves the installation of a new gas mainline to serve a new housing development in Richland Township. The project includes 6,000 feet of new pipeline in the north-east corner of the Township of Pine.
Because all of the work impacts roads that are state owned, Columbia Gas also met with PennDOT and will secure all necessary PennDOT permits. The work will take place within private easements, or the state road rights-of-way. Work within the private easements will take place Monday through Fridays, 6:00 PM.- 6:00 AM. within the Township of Pine. Columbia's work will also impact Bakerstown Road where work will occur weekdays between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. There will be temporary lane restrictions during working hours.
