Volunteering in the Township of Pine

Volunteer Opportunities

" Community Volunteerism is the Ultimate Form of Civic Engagement"

The Township of Pine has many volunteer opportunities for our residents to help enhance the progress and growth of Pine.
The Township is governed by a Board of Supervisors that are assisted by several volunteer boards, commissions and committees including; 

The Planning Commission
The Planning Commission reviews all plans related to land development in the Township and provides their recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.

The Environmental Advisory Council

The Environmental Advisory Council advises the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission on matters concerning the protection, conservation, management, promotion and use of natural resources, including air, land and water resources pursuant to Act No. 148 of December 21,1973

The Parks & Recreation Commission

The Commission is responsible the following: periodic review of parks and recreation programs for the purpose of recommending changes, for the development, operation, maintenance and management of parks, park facilities, trails and green-ways; organization of, operation of, and volunteer recruitment for recreation programs and community recreation; and for advising the Township Manager, the Board, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Parks and Recreation Director on recreation needs, use of facilities and programs and fee structures relating thereto.

The Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board conducts hearings and render decisions on appeals from the Zoning Officer; hears challenges to the validity of any ordinance or map; hears requests for variances and renders decisions thereon; and hears and decides upon requests for special exceptions.

In addition, the Township offers volunteer opportunities through the Pine Community Center including; An annual Easter Egg Hunt, Community Day, Halloween in the Park, Holiday Dazzle and the Summer Recreation Program.  Anyone volunteering with or around children are subject to associated PA required clearances.  For those who love the outdoors and keeping our community beautiful there is; Adopt-A-Highway, Community Clean Up and Trail Stewardship.
