The Northern Regional Police Department is providing a secure, safe, and environmentally friendly way for our residents to discard unwanted, unused, and expired prescriptions and medications. In 2017 the Northern Regional Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Drug Take-Back Program. The collection of unused/expired medications is a nationwide campaign designating several weekends throughout the year to collect unwanted medicines. In two back to back Saturdays, the Northern Regional Police Department received just under 300 pounds of unwanted and expired medications. Due to the overwhelming success, the department decided to apply to have a permanent collection box placed at the Police Station. The collection box, provided by a joint effort involving; local police, the Allegheny County District Attorneys office, the Allegheny County Health Department, and the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. Drop off unwanted/expired medications at the Northern Regional Police Station located at 230 Pearce Mill Road (entrance is on the side), Wexford, PA 15090, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM.
